What are probiotics?

Commonly known as "good" bacteria, they get this accolade from being safe and beneficial for people and animals.

What is the problem with using traditional cleaning chemicals and disinfectants?

Household cleaners that use chemicals in their formulations typically leave a residue and don't do an adequate job of removing the contaminants at the microscopic level. More importantly, chemical application contributes to the creation of Biofilm, where germs and pathogens hide and thrive. Biofilm is a health concern and needs to be removed.

What is Biofilm?

Biofilm is a slimy protective layer where large colonies of microbes are embedded, hiding dirt, viruses, pathogens and other contaminants. The biofilm is produced by the bacteria from proteins and multiple sugars. The biofilm also protects the colony from UV light, as well as poisonous substances such as disinfectants, cleaners, antibiotics and against dehydration. Biofilm is a key component that micro-organisms find useful to defeat the immune system, antibiotic drugs and other threats.

Biofilm is in many places and people don't even realize it! It may be that discoloration on a wall or that the grout is less vibrant, for example. It is in a toilet or sink drain, or on a shower curtain - you get the idea - and there are pink streaks. It can be found on railings, stairs, hiding in your sink, the inside of pipes, etc. It can lead to outbreaks of illness. Pathogens can stay alive and virulent for a longer period of time when they land on Biofilm.

How do the probiotics work?

When using the probiotic cleaner, a large portion of the pathogenic bacteria is removed by physical means as is the case with regular cleaning. However, the innovative aspect of StaBioticTM is that immediately after cleaning, a layer of good bacteria is placed on the treated surfaces (floors, walls, furniture, beds, etc…) and these good bacteria will immediately occupy all space, food and water, thereby preventing newly arriving pathogens from multiplying.

The friendly bacteria are little workers, removing contaminants and dirt at the microscopic level. Because they are live bacteria, they can move and do their work in all sorts of spaces that you could never possibly reach! Contaminants are converted to mass and CO2, the same that you breathe out. These little friendly bacillus bacteria work up to 3-5 days after application on treated surfaces, eating away at the Biofilm. A beneficial layer of good bacteria moves into spaces and therefore reduces the risk associated with dirt, mold, odor-causing contaminants, pathogenic bacteria and dust mites and their waste.

Are the probiotics you take for your gut the same as the probiotics in these probiotic cleaning formulas?

No, they are not the same. And, if you try to open a probiotic capsule designed for ingestion (ie, internal probiotics) and add it to water, or if you expect yogurt bacteria to perform the same as in our probiotic cleaning products, you will NOT get the same results! Our products are soil-based probiotics and a proprietary formula which stabilizes them effectively for maximum power, shelf life and effectiveness. Please read on to the next question for more details.

How many probiotics are in the products?

There are 50 Million probiotics per ml.

What makes our Probiotic products (PureBiotics®) different from standard or traditional products?

Ours is the next generation of eco-friendly cleaning products, harnessing nature to make homes and workplaces cleaner and healthier. Traditional cleaning solutions work against nature by destroying all the bacteria, good and bad, changing the natural equilibrium of the environment. We use nature's intelligence to restore the natural balance in our indoor spaces, stabilizing the environment. Hence, the name StaBioticTM. Our products represent a new generation of cleaning products, containing good bacteria to replace 'bad bugs' such as Salmonella, E.Coli, Staphylococcus, Clostridium, etc.

Are our products disinfectants?

No, because our probiotic products (PureBiotics®) have no direct biocidal effect on other bacteria. As such, they will not lead to the build-up of resistance among pathogenic micro-organisms.

Do I continue to clean with traditional cleaning products if using the probiotic products?

The best results are to cease using disinfectants and allow the probiotics to perform their function in the indoor environment.

Are these probiotic products safe around humans, and is protective equipment recommended?

Due to their biological nature, all probiotic products are perfectly safe, asthma-friendly, eco-friendly and harmless. No protective clothing is required and contact with bare skin will have no negative effect. Additional information on the safety data sheets are available by emailing us.

What are the optimal storage conditions for the probiotic products?

Because of the beneficial probiotic bacillus in our probiotic products (PureBiotics®), it is ideal to store products at room temperature. Never store in direct sunlight and temperatures above 140°F (60°C) are to be avoided. As well, do not put in the refrigerator and do not freeze.

Are the probiotics safe to use around the home on a septic system? Do the probiotics have an adverse effect on the already existing good bacteria in the septic system?

Our probiotics (PureBiotics®) are totally safe for septic tanks and all kinds of waste systems. They add to the already existing good bacteria (i.e., the same principle as with intestinal probiotics. However, PureBiotics® are different strains of bacteria). PureBiotics® is especially useful in water systems on farms where the water comes from wells. In some of our other applications, PureBiotics® are applied in a much higher concentration to dominate treated surfaces to become the major population.

I used to buy Airbiotics and I am living in the United States. What products do I buy from the PureBiotics® USA website that are the equivalent to Airbiotics-branded products?

The solution in Airbiotics products are exactly the same as PureBiotics; PureBiotics is the manufacturer.
